Mr. Mose Gibson age 83, departed this life on Saturday, August 17, 2024. He was born to Elizabeth and John Gibson, Sr. on April 14, 1941, in Boligee, Alabama.
Mose was introduced to the Lord at an early age and was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church, in Boligee. He was schooled at Greene County Training School before going to work on the building of the interstate highway in the late 50s. Mose soon headed north to Saginaw, Michigan, where one of his first jobs was at Michigan Bean Company. He worked there until landing a "good" job at General Motors Central Foundry, where he was a member of UAW local 455. Mose worked at GM for nearly 30 years before retiring to a life of leisure.
Mose married his beloved wife, Florestine Culpepper, on August 27, 1994. Together, they would regularly host family and friends with food, libations, and music. Everyone knew that Lamson Street was the place to go to eat good food, have a good time, and hear good music. Mose will be remembered as "the life of the party, Johnnie Taylor Jr., and the man who made us love the blues."
Mose leaves to cherish his memory, his sister, Dora Walker, brothers, John (Chris) Gibson, B.T. Gibson, Albert (Joanne) Gibson, all of Saginaw, Michigan, and Joe (Patricia) Gibson of Birmingham, Alabama; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends including his dearest friend, Kossie McKaskey, who was more like family.
Mose was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, A.C. Gibson, Pearl Pelt, Flossie Patterson, Sarah Meriweather, Leola Cox and Willie Dell Lockhart.
The Gibson family would like to express gratitude and thanks to all those who have extended prayers, shown concern, and expressed words or acts of kindness in our time of grief. We sincerely appreciate all that you have done.
