Mother Alean Junious

March 6, 1935 — May 4, 2019

Mother Alean Junious was born March 6, 1935 in Yazoo, Mississippi, the daughter of Dave and Corrine (Gibbs) Grays. She returned home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the blessed age of 84 years.

Alean attended schools in Yazoo County, Mississippi before moving to Saginaw, Michigan. She was a faithful member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church for many years and was lovingly called Mother Juni. She loved her church just as much as she loved her God.

Alean was a wonderful homemaker that played many roles. She was a nurse, chef, beautician, doctor, counselor and much more. A loving wife and caring mother were her most important roles and she excelled at them both. Her grands, great-grands, and great-great grands were the light in her life.

A true Proverbs 31 woman, a woman of faith and prayer, she was the glue of her family. “Many women have done well, but you, Mother Alean Junious, excel them all.”

Mother Junious was preceded in death by her husband, Albert James Junious; parents, Dave and Corrine Grays; sister, Maggie Erwin; brothers, Curlee, Claude, Clarence, McKinley Grays; grandson, Johnathan Junious; special friend, Ruben Supples.

She leaves lasting memories with ten children, Milton Grays, Dorothy (Macarthur) Corley, Mary (Nathaniel) Woods, Carl Little, Sandra Reynolds, Ezekiel (Rose) Little, Albert (Sarah) Junious, Regina Junious, Leonard Junious, Gail Colbert; grandchildren, ArchShawnda Tinsley, Archie Thomas, Acy (Latrice) Thomas, Kenyatta Thomas, Felix (Daphne) Little, Nakia Woods, Marcus Woods, Natalie Woods, Joseph Junious, James Junious, Victoria Junious, Keisha Bryant-Ford, Michael Colbert, Robert Junious, Zachary Williams, Latoyya Junious, Caleb Junious, Joshua Junious, Mecha Grays, Marquavis Little; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sister, Ida Mae Stuckey; brothers OD and YT (Barbara) Grays; sisters-in-law, Virginia Grays, Shirley Junious, Mary Grays; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family would like to express special thanks to Jackie Nash, Pastor Chevez Marshall and the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Family, Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
