Mother Cora B. Webb

Mother Cora Bell Webb, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 20, 2018. She passed away peacefully at Covenant Healthcare-Harrison at the blessed age of 85 years. Mother was born on May 3, 1932 in Poplar Grove, Arkansas to Joe and Beatrice Thomas.

Mother Webb accepted Christ and was baptized as a young teenager. She was a member of Joshua’s Way Ministries, Pastor Lerone Clement, and Bethlehem Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Emeritus E.W. Bothuel. Mother visited other ministries throughout her Christian walk.

In September of 1960, after leaving Arkansas, Cora met and was united in marriage to Taylor B. Webb, Sr. They were married 39 beautiful years and their union was blessed with eight children. Mother Webb was employed at Saginaw Furniture Company for numerous years until she accepted the position of Assistant Dietician at the Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital of Saginaw, Michigan. She retired from the VA after thirty years of service.

Mother Webb was a hardworking, independent woman who was always willing to help those in need. She adored her entire family and was “brutally” honest. She loved to tell stories of her past as she cooked and cleaned; she was a wonderful cook and was always willing to share her recipes and teach others to make them. Mother’s motto in life was “if you know how to cook, you will never starve.” Mother enjoyed working alongside her husband in their yard, planting flowers and shrubs, and working together on projects inside and outside as they beautified their home.

Mother Webb leaves to cherish loving memories and to continue her legacy seven children: Dorothy (Leonard) Doxie, Troy Webb, Sr., Ricky (Constance) Webb, Denise (Floyd) Jackson, Roy (Donna) Webb, Mary Webb, Ebony Webb; four stepchildren, Nellie Ricks, Muskegeon, Michigan, Myrtis Christian, Atlanta, Georgia, Jessie (Margie) Webb, Dumas, Arkansas and Taylor B. (Loretta) Webb, Jr., Saginaw, Michigan; beautiful sister, Dorothy (John) Moore; twenty-nine grandchildren, sixty-one great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Taylor Webb, Sr.; son, Morris B. Webb; parents, Joe and Beatrice Thomas; four sisters: Lillian Holmes, Vernice McAfee, Pecolia Thomas, Marvella Thomas; three brothers: Joe Thomas, Jr., Eugene Thomas and Louis Thomas; brother-in-law, Jake Holmes; daughter-in-law, Evelyn Webb; six nephews and one niece.

The family expresses special thanks to the physicians, nurses and Critical Care Unit staff at Covenant Healthcare-Harrison.
