Eva Lee Whitt was born February 8, 1916 in Yazoo, Mississippi, the daughter of John and Minerva Addison. The Lord called Eva home in the stillness of the morning on Sunday, June 6, 2021.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. After her mother passed away, Eva and her siblings moved with their older brother Bob and his wife Gertrude. Growing up Eva found pleasure in reading the Bible and participating in church activities.
While in Mississippi, Eva married Jeff Wade. The couple had twin daughters, Ocea and Ola. Shortly after her twins were called home to be with the Lord, the couple parted ways. After the marriage ended, Eva left Mississippi for Detroit, Michigan. While residing in Detroit she worked various jobs. She was an innovative thinker and a hard worker.
Years later arriving in Saginaw, she joined Tabernacle Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor R.B. Austin. While at Tabernacle, she involved herself in several ministries. She was a Sunday school teacher, Youth Department Leader, and active in the Mission Department. Many years later, leaving Tabernacle, she joined Renaissance Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Nathaniel Calhoun, and she served there until she was physically unable to do so.
Eva met and married James Whitt. The two enjoyed life and love until his passing. Some of Eva’s favorite activities were cooking, traveling, reading, crossword puzzle books and telling us all what to do. Eva was employed at Fame Laundry, Amerwood Restaurant, Bruce Cartage Trucking and she also worked for Dr. and Mrs. William McClure.
She leaves to cherish her memory one sister, Bunnie J. Smith, Wayneboro, Mississippi; two sisters-in-law, Bobbi Addison, West Memphis, Arkansas, Ethel Drain, Saginaw, Michigan; many nieces and nephews (too many to name), consisting of the Addison, Randle and Drain families.
Mother Whitt was preceded in death by her husband, James Whitt; daughters, Ocea and Ola Wade; parents, John and Minerva Addison; siblings, Robert Addison, Carrie (John Sr.) Henderson, Bob (Gertrude) Addison, Johnnie (Ludora) Addison, Bill (Rena Mae) Addison and Willie J. Lewis.
