Mother Freddie Mae Harris

Mother Freddie Mae Harris went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at her residence in Saginaw, Michigan, at the age of 90 years. She was born November 24, 1932, in Union Springs, Alabama, to Roosevelt Sr. and Ora L. Allen.

Mother joined Baskins Cornerstone AME Zion Church at an early age. She relocated to Saginaw in 1952.

Mother Harris loved and cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren whom she helped raise. She not only opened her home to her family but to many others to whom she was like a mother, grandmother, and auntie. Mother Harris had a passion for gardening, and she shared what she grew with everyone until her health failed. She loved cooking and making quilts. Mother’s favorite song was “My Last Two Dollars.”

Mother Freddie Mae leaves to cherish loving memories two daughters, Patricia Brent and Sylvia Harris, Saginaw, Michigan; two sons, David Harris, and Duane Harris, Saginaw, Michigan; forty grandchildren; one hundred forty-one great-grandchildren; ninety great-great-grandchildren; five great-great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-great grandchild; one brother, Tommie Allen, Saginaw, Michigan; four sisters, Cora Melvin, Glendall Allen, Minnie Weaver, and Wilma Jean Allen, all of Columbia, Georgia; she also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Mother Freddie Mae Harris was preceded in death by her parents, Roosevelt Sr. (Ora Watkins) Allen; daughter, Carolyn Harris; son, Charlie Harris, Jr.; four sisters, Rosiazellia Johnson, Mattie Works, Ora Allen, and Queenesther Stubbs; three brothers, Lawson Allen, Roosevelt Allen, Jr., and Frank McKether, Sr.
