Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Friend, Ms. Janie Mae Coston passed away Monday, July 10, 2023, and went home to be with our Heavenly Father following a brief illness. She was 85 years old. Janie was born April 14, 1938, in Brundidge, Alabama, to the late Simon and Olivia Meadows Morris.
Janie was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan, where she was a longtime Church of God in Christ member and The World Outreach Campus Church in Saginaw. She served on the Christian Women’s Council, Selectorial Choir, an Intercessory Prayer Leader, a member of the Pastor's Aide, and as an Assistant Sunday School Teacher. Our mother was a strong Christian woman of faith. She was a powerful prayer warrior, and when she prayed you could feel the presence of God. Our mother was such a loving, caring, and trustworthy person. She put so much love into the universe.
Our mother loved praying, cooking, helping others, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved her family and church family. With her soft-spoken voice, she always made things all better with prayer.
Janie Mae Coston was married to the late Huey Lee Coston for 25 years, from their union nine children whom she loved and adored were born.
Mother Janie Mae Coston leaves to cherish her memory four daughters and four sons, Larry (Tracy) Coston, Shirley Long, Gwendolyn Davis, Dwayne Coston, Jeffery (Sabrina) Coston, Stephanie (Ricky) Swilley, Doria Coston, and Demetrius (Brandy) Coston; one stepson, Michelle Hatchett; twenty-nine grandchildren; thirty-eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Savannah Caffie, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including her special friends, Bishop Designate Hurley J.
