Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, godmother, foster mother, and aunt departed this world on July 23, 2024, at Avista Nursing & Rehab in Saginaw, Michigan. She was born April 8, 1929, in Liberty, Mississippi to Lucious and Effie Flowers.
Mrs. Robbie wore many hats and had endless skills, including being a seamstress. She held a vault's wealth of knowledge. If you asked her about anything, she would have an answer. Her passions included but were not limited to crocheting, gardening, baking, and cooking, which we ALL benefited from! She loved listening to music, especially the gospel and the blues.
Mrs. Robbie was selfless and a true pillar of the family and community. Robbie believed in doing what was right and was ALWAYS WILLING to help those in need. She saw people as God’s children and followed His word when it came to such. Her heart and the love she gave were bigger than any of us could even fathom, but we all bore witness to its benevolence. Children had always brought her great delight and joy. She fostered over 30 children and kept an open door to those with hardships, whether it was financial, a place to rest momentarily, a safe place to speak your burdens, a bite to eat, or a week’s worth of meals, she provided.
Mrs. Robbie, though small in stature, packed a mighty punch. She had a great sense of humor, a grand wit, and CEASELESS SASS! She was a truth teller and would crack a joke on you in a heartbeat.
Though we are deeply saddened by her absence, let us all be intentional to respect and love one another as she has loved us, unconditionally. Our lives and this world are better because of her presence.
Mrs. Overstreet, you’ll forever be loved and live on in our hearts. May you rest in peace.
