Mrs. Yvonne Riggins-Thomas

Mrs. Yvonne Riggins Thomas departed this earthly life for her place in the Kingdom of Heaven on Monday, February 9, 2015 at the age of 62 years. She was the 7th child of 12 born June 19, 1952 in Eldorado, Arkansas to Jordan Daniels and Margaret Riggins.
Yvonne attended high school in Eldorado, Arkansas. She obtained her Bachelors degree in Psychology from Saginaw Valley University. Yvonne was a Christian woman who was very dedicated and nurturing. She loved to host and entertain, especially at family reunions and community functions. Yvonne was a very cultivated and eloquent woman who was a firm believer in education and community awareness. She was a skilled grant writer who was able to live out her calling as a dedicated executive director for Lutheran Social Services (Neighborhood House). Her presence will be truly missed.
She leaves to cherish her wonderful memory one daughter, Qiana Thrower; one son, Willis Riggins; two grandchildren, Vashon and Jordan Riggins; two sisters, Mae Williams and Jacqueline Smiley; six brothers, Charles, Donald, Steve, Chappell, Curtis and John Riggins; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Thomas, parents, Margaret and Jordan Daniel Riggins, two sisters, Ester Debose and Glinder Riggins, one brother, Greg Riggins.
The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff and friends at the Neighborhood House and everyone who offered kind words, condolences and prayers.
There will be no public viewing. Cremation has taken place.
