Mr. Murial Cowley passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Sinai Grace Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Age 54 years. He was born March 21, 1963 in Joiner, Arkansas to George and Bernice Cowley.
Murial was the 15th of 22 children. As a child, he enjoyed climbing trees, playing games, and playing his favorite sports, baseball and basketball. Although he was raised as a sharecropper in the south, Murial’s favorite way of spending a day of leisure was hunting, fishing and sleeping. Even after joining his family in Saginaw, Michigan in the eighties, he continued these activities.
He leaves to cherish memories a loving mother, Bernice Cowley; six sisters, Georgia Mae, Pauline, Emma Jean, Barbara A. (Lonnie) Taylor, Regina (Lee Raymond) Abraham, Gloria Smith, Saginaw, Michigan; two brothers, James (Tammie) Cowley and Timothy Cowley, Joiner, Arkansas; a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins; two special nieces, Leekitha Abraham and Jaleea Abraham; two special nephews, Lee Abraham, Jr. and Brandon Roberson; special friends, Greg Ronell Smith, Doris Walker, Helen King, Rosemary Williams, Gwendolyn Hill, Michelle Humes, Patricia Byrd and many others.
Murial was preceded in death by his father, George Cowley, three brothers, George Cowley, Jr., Roosevelt Cowley and Darrel Cowley; six sisters, Patricia Cowley, Angelia Dawkins, Debra Deal, Valery Williams, Ruby Cowley and Diane Dawkins.
