Myrtle Jean Banks beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt passed away Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Cartwright Hospice Residence. Age 79 years. She was born August 27, 1930 in Red Bay, Alabama to Claude and Annie Young.
She was a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully on the ushers ministry until her health failed her. Myrtle retired from T. J. Maxx where she met no strangers.
Myrtle leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Cynthia Tate, Saginaw, MI, Valencia Stewart, Lansing, MI, one son, Kenneth Scruggs, Chicago, IL; a very special and devoted granddaughter, Tanya (Anthony) Tate-Harrison, three granddaughters, Nicole and Aretha Malone, Quandra Stewart; special grandson, Jerry A. Tate (Booney); grandson, Marcus Vinson; three great-daughters, three great-grandsons; four sisters, Alice Fields, Helen Scott, Saginaw, MI, Ocene Morris, Detroit, MI, Shirley Young, Sterling Hts., MI, brother, Lincoln (Maria) Young, Central Islip, NY; brothers-in-law, James Brewer, Saginaw, MI, J.B. Ricks, Sheffield, AL; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friends, Joe S. Buckner, Mary Jones and Helen Daniels.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Banks; parents; two sons, Charles and Carl Ingram; brother, Moman Young, six sisters, Mae Jeffie Young, Josephine Ricks, Nettie L. Simpson, Azilee Brewer, Claudia Smith, Gloria Jean Winchester.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Cartwright Hospice Residence, Heartland Home Healthcare, Dr. Renfrow, Dr. Beltran, Dr. Ray Mangulabnan and Ms. Vanessa Stephens.
