Nathaniel Winston

November 19, 1948 — September 25, 2014

On Thursday, September 25, 2014 at the age of 65 years, the Lord sent His angel to St. Marys of Michigan Medical Center to escort the soul of Nathaniel Winston Jr. into the kingdom of Heaven. He was the seventh oldest of fourteen children born November 19, 1948 in Indianola, Mississippi to Rachel and Nathaniel Winston.
Nathaniel gave his life to Christ at an early age at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend J.J. Johnson. He attended Stephenville Elementary School. Nathaniel relocated to Chicago, Illinois with his family in 1967 where he began employment with the railroad. He moved to Saginaw, Michigan in 1969 where he was employed with General Motors and was a member of UAW Local 668. Nathaniel retired after 30 years of faithful service. He loved to cook, garden, fish and spend time with his dogs.
He leaves to celebrate his legacy his devoted wife of 35 years, Ruby Winston; four sons, Larry Winston, Nathaniel III (Jackie) Winston, Nathaniel (Keifon) Sutton and Kenny Turner all of Saginaw, Michigan; two step-daughters, Tanisha Sutton of Saginaw, Michigan and Vonmetre Sutton of Detroit, Michigan; twenty-six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five sisters, Caroline McCaleb of Indianola, Mississippi, Dorothy (Billy) Ross, Jonnie Mae Winston and Eddy Mae (Franky) Anderson all of Chicago, Illinois, Betty J. Petterson of Phoenix City, Alabama four brothers, Eli (Brenda) Winston, Jake (Donna) Winston, Joe (Margaret) Winston and Wardell (Annie Louise) Winston all of Indianola, Mississippi; six brothers-in-law; eleven sisters-in-law; a host of nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends including special friends, Zada Bailey, Joe Hardin, Eugene Clark, James Jones, Frank Jones, Freddie Moore and "Slim".
Nathaniel was preceded in death by his parents, Rachel and Nathaniel Winston; one son, Darrell Chapman; two brothers, Caldwell and Bill Winston; three sisters, Dalzell, Jeanette and Estella Winston.
