Our angel Neftara O. Clark gained her wings on March 17th, 2017 after complications from Lupus at the age of 38. Born September 16, 1978 in Battle Creek, Michigan, Neftara later moved to Lansing where she graduated from J.W Sexton High School in 1996. Despite being diagnosed at the age of 18, she continued to excel academically while fighting through health obstacles; she did not let Lupus stop her. She went on to earn degrees in African American Studies and Organizational Studies from the University of Michigan and her Juris Doctor degree from Michigan State University College of Law going on to practice law as a Defense Attorney. Neftara lived her life advocating for, inspiring and touching the lives of those she came in contact with. She was a social justice advocate and was passionate about helping victims of domestic violence as she worked in the Ingham County Prosecutors Domestic Violence Unit, clerked for the Domestic Violence Unit of Legal Services Office and did research for Michigan Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence. She was an inspiration to many and respected by all, her passion to help those in need will forever engrave her legacy in the hearts of those who were blessed enough to know her.
Neftaras sister Nia Clark and brother Omawali Clark preceded her in death. She is survived by her mother, Sondra Clark; father, Larry Guy; sisters, Njoki (Nia) Clark, Waleeda (Abena) Guy, Azania Guy, Nefetiti Clark, and Hadiya Williams; brothers, Ramesis Clark and Mbonisi Williams; godchildren, Janae Davis, Tiyana Roper, Ameer Ali.
