Nettie Barnes

February 21, 1950 — April 15, 2021

Mrs. Nettie Mae Hinton-Barnes was born February 21, 1950 in Alabama, the daughter of Fannie Lee Hinton. God called her home on Thursday, April 15, 2021 after blessing us with her presence for seventy-one years.

Nettie was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan. She was a former member of Galilee Baptist Church and often visited Old Town Christian Center.

Nettie loved to eat, shop and socialize with family, friends and strangers. She was a people person, who had a big heart, loved to give and was always helping those in need. She was feisty with a spit-fire personality. She was a determined woman and her own person. She will truly be missed.

She leaves precious memories with two children, Luereather (Jeffrey) Alexander, Azolarie (Regina) Hinton; grandchildren, Jeffrey Alexander, Justina Alexander, Carrte Alexander (Brianna Skufca), Todd (Kayla) Hinton, Pasha Riggins; great-grandchildren, Aaliyah, Derrick, Wesley, Rio; sister, Elizabeth Hinton “Betty”; brother, Havell (Thelma) Hinton; nieces, Sherelle (Karl) Knight; nephews Darnell Hinton, John Hinton (Maria Sanchez); 25 great-nieces and nephews, including Ryannt and Silas Foster, John L. Hinton Jr.; many cousins in Saginaw, Alabama, Newark and Columbus, Ohio, and special friends Kay, Barbara, Eleanor, Sherrie, the McGee and Sanders families.

Nettie was preceded in death by her mother, Fannie Lee Hinton; nephew, Derrick Hinton; sister, Sadie Mae Hinton; aunts, Lucille, Jeanette, Willie Lee Hinton; uncle, Luke; special friend, Blanche.

The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Guy Boike, Denise and Staff of Bay City, Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital, Tosha, Ann, Regina, McLaren Hospital of Bay City, Covenant Healthcare Staff in Saginaw, St. Francis Nursing Home and Staff, Compassus, E-Z Self Storage, Ivan E.
