Nickolas Thomas (Lansing)

Mr. Nickolas Darnel Thomas, 30, transitioned peacefully on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, surrounded by love in Lansing, Michigan. He was born on Wednesday, April 28, 1993, in Lansing, Michigan to Guy Thomas and Angela Smith.

Nick grew up in Lansing, Michigan and graduated from Holt High School with honors in 2011. Nick was heavily involved in school extracurricular activities, mainly serving as the cornerback for the Holt Rams Varsity Football team. At a young age he dedicated his life to trusting God and always shared his faith with others.

Nick’s journey continued at Saginaw Valley State University, where he pursued his studies in criminal justice and athletic prowess on a scholarship for football. On September 20, 2013, Nick welcomed his only son, Elías Thomas-Kemp with Tiana Kemp. Elías was his pride and joy and was his driving force in life.

Even in the face of life's tribulations, Nickolas remained a paragon of resilience, holding fast to his unwavering faith and unbreakable spirit until the very end of his journey here on earth.

Nick will be remembered as a loving father, son, brother, grandson, uncle and a dear friend to many. His kind spirit, sharp intellect, boundless generosity, infectious sense of humor, faith in God, and deep love for his family touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. To Nick, family was paramount, and his devotion was unparalleled.

He is survived by his parents, Angela Smith, Guy (Anita) Thomas; son, Elías Thomas-Kemp; siblings, Nicole (Curt) Mattison, Andree Thomas, Willie James, Jaida Thomas, Israel Temple, and Aysha James; nieces and nephews, August, Jazell, Ayva, Cali, and Andree II; grandparents, Charles and Emma Thomas and Cynthia Smith, as well as many extended family and dear friends.

Nickolas Thomas was preceded in death by his grandfather, James Roseburgh.

In our grief, we remember and honor the remarkable life of Nickolas Darnel Thomas. He will be deeply missed, his legacy living on as a testament to the enduring power of faith, love, and family. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
