O.C. Sr. (Lansing) Bowers

O.C. Bowers, Sr. passed away Saturday, February 18, 2017 at his residence in Lansing, Michigan. Age 67 years. He was born October 16, 1949 in DeKalb County, Georgia, son of Robert and Minnie Bowers.
O.C. was raised in a home full of love with five other siblings who resided in Lansing Michigan. In his youth, he was known to be a great boxer. His hands were considered lethal weapons. After a few run-ins with the law, boxing took a less prominent role in his life. O.C. learned to use his hands for more creative purposes such as painting, drawing, carpentry, reupholstering, etc. He created one-of-a-kind pieces, paying close attention to detail. O.C. was also undefeated in the game of chess, and he would never back down from a challenge. He was an awesome storyteller, with very keen recollection when it came to details of past events. His family could sit around for hours listening to him tell his stories. O.C. was very protective of all siblings, family, and friends.
He leaves to cherish in his memory 2 sons, O.C. Bowers, Jr. and Michael Clark; 4 daughters, Katrina Taylor, Shawnta Taylor, Nikisha Taylor and Courtney Harris; 19 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Minnie Bowers, one brother and two sisters. His loving wife Vivian Taylor-Bowers passed the same day, shortly after he died.
