Odell Abraham

April 10, 1958 — March 28, 2020

Mr. Odell J. Abraham was born April 10, 1958 to Odell Sr. and Estella Mae Abraham. He passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at the age of 61 years.

Odell graduated from Saint Mary Cathedral High School in Saginaw, Michigan, where he was a point guard on the varsity basketball team from ninth thru twelfth grade. After high school, he joined the United States Navy in 1978. He married Sabina Jiles in 1979 and returned home from the Navy in 1982. After returning to Saginaw, Odell worked for the City of Saginaw and as a security guard at Rite Aid.

Odell coached girls’ basketball and floor hockey at Jessie Loomis Elementary in 1983, leading them to a city championship. He also coached boys’ basketball at Jones Elementary and Friendship Games.

Odell was always the life of the party. He loved to dance and considered everyone family. His family were most important to him, especially his children and grandchildren. He will truly be missed.

Odell was preceded in death by his son, Odell Abraham III; mother, Estella Mae Abraham; grandparent, R. Abraham; sister, Jena Brazil; brother, Tracy Abraham; nephew, Daniel Abraham.

He leaves to cherish his memory six children, Ta-Tanesha (Robert) Pierson, Urshel Jiles, both of Saginaw, Michigan, Shawnika (Michael) McPherson, Inkster, Michigan, Akeem Sharry, Virgin Islands, D’Kayla, Atlanta, Georgia, Brianna Smith, Saginaw, Michigan; father, Odell Abraham, Sr.; stepchildren, Rayshawna (Tyree), Monique, Dominique, Chelsea, Demetria (Nicole), Devin; grandchildren, Michael, Karim, Karina, Urshel Jr., Sa’mari, Amir, Roman, Dale; sisters, Varita Oliver, Katrina (David) White, Kristy, Washington; brothers, Marcus, Vandale, Anthony, Danny Abraham; many nieces, nephews,

The family would like to express special thanks to Elaine Jackson, who was in Odell’s life for twenty years and with him during his last moments; Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
