Mr. Oliver L. Quarles affectionately known as Head, our beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, nephew, and friend went to his eternal rest on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the age of 57 years. He was the son of Oliver and Laura Quarles. Oliver was born May 9, 1958 in Saginaw, Michigan.
He attended Saginaw Public Schools. Oliver accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. Paul Baptist Church. Oliver loved traveling, music, fishing, sports, debates and socializing with his friends and family. He was full of love, joy and peace, and he had an amazing personality. Oliver was a certified electrician and worked many years in California, Georgia and Ohio. He retired in Ohio after becoming disabled. Oliver will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memories a son, Jamar L. Quarles, five grandchildren, his parents, Rev. Oliver and Laura Quarles; grandmother, Leodis Washington, Highpoint, North Carolina; two brothers, Douglas, Saginaw, Michigan and Oneil (Sandra) Quarles, Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Darnice Porter, Columbus, Ohio and Bernice (Eddie) Bandy, Saginaw, Michigan; six nieces and six nephews; a special nephew, Cory Porter; aunts, Sadie (Melvin) Washington, Highpoint, North Carolina, Lueada (Arthur) Rogers, Spartanburg, South Carolina, Bettie (Augusta) Stanton, Chicago, Illinois, Almonia Burrell, Gainesville, Alabama, Bertha (Aaron) Pruitt, Walpole, Massachusetts, Eleanor Taylor, Lillie Thomas, Geneva (Jack) Long, Lillie Adkins all of Saginaw, Michigan, Elvina Quarles Jones, Panola, Alabama; uncles, Roosevelt (Clara) Washington, Jimmie Turner, Walter (Laura) Lyons , Saginaw, Michigan; many other relatives and friends including his special friends, J.D. Brown, Wendell Smith, Mark Young, Anthony Pickett, Kenneth Williams and Dennis Harris.
Oliver was preceded in death by his brother, Angelo Quarles, grandparents, Lillie H. and Oliver Quarles and Leroy Holt, aunts, McClure Atkins and Hazel Turner, ncles, Bobby Washington , John E. Quarles and John H. Quarles
