Mr. Ollie Barry passed away Sunday, October 27, 2013 at the University of Michigan Health System. Age 67 years. He was born February 2, 1946 in Columbus, Mississippi to Alfreda and Ollie L. Barry.
Ollie served with the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed as a Sanitization Engineer at General Motors and retired after 34 years of faithful service. Ollie was a member of Word of Faith International Ministries under the leadership of Dr. Byron and Minister Chestermae Hayes where he served with the greeters ministry. He was an avid bowler whose proud accomplishment was when he bowled a game of 300 points. Ollie enjoyed shopping, shooting pool and working out. He loved to travel and spend time with his family. Gone but not forgotten, his presence will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Lola M. Barry: one daughter, Satyra Griffin: seven sons, Dorian Griffin, Alfred Barry and Curtis Barry, both of Atlanta, Georgia, Sheldon (Stacy) Murphy, Brandon (Rozena) Murphy, Preston (Maria) Murphy of Cranston, Rhode Island and Justin Tameka) Murphy; twenty-one grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley Ward, Cecil (Norwaine) Reed and Theonas Barry; one brother, Tennison (DeSinthia) Barry; mother-in-law, Jennie Gaines, one sister-in-law, Bobbie Clarke of Shreveport, Louisiana; one brother-in-law, Robert (Tonya) Gaines; two special aunts, Josephine Brown and Susie Butler; many other relatives and friends.
The family wishes to express special thanks to everyone who offered kind words and condolences to our family during our time of bereavement.
