Mr. Oscar Washington passed away Friday, May 1, 2020 at McLaren Greater Lansing in Lansing, Michigan. Age 86 years. He was born October 16, 1933 in Montgomery, Alabama to Tom and Gussie Washington.

Big O, as he was often called accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age Jerusalem Baptist Church, Montgomery, Alabama. Mr. Washington was a member of Mask Memorial CME Church in Lansing, Michigan.

He attended Booker T. Washington High School, Montgomery, Alabama. Oscar was a veteran of the Korean War. He was self-employed in the construction field for over 40 years. Big O loved cooking feeding the souls of family and friends with seafood gumbo and barbecue. Oscar was an avid sports enthusiast who loved boxing, football and watching Detroit Tigers baseball. He also liked hunting and fishing.

He leaves to cherish his memory Maxine; children: Felicia, Virginia; Cedric, Alabama; Anthony Turner; Roslyn, both of Lansing, Michigan; granddaughter, Jada; great-grandson, Elias; beloved nephews: Moses (Eddie) Scott, Montgomery, Alabama; James Lane, Troy, Alabama; Keith (Glenda) Rogers, Wetumpka, Alabama; Rev. Major L. Lane, Troy, Alabama. Sisters-in-law: Staree Porter, Tuskegee, Alabama; Annie Knight, Brookhaven, Mississippi; Dorothy Jean (Joe) Young, Brookhaven, Mississippi; Mildred Brown, San Bernardino, California; Coriena “Rean” Haynes, Holt, Michigan; Shirley Knox, Brookhaven, Mississippi; Delphine (Tom) Haynes-Brown, Antioch, California; Florine (Royal) Dixon, Brookhaven, Mississippi, Dorothy Osborne, Lansing, Michigan. Brothers-in-law: Charlie Haynes, Los Angeles, California and James Haines, Brookhaven, Mississippi; other relatives and friends including special friends, James Mitchell, Preston Bettis, Homer Walker, Robert Hill, Mrs. Cora Hill and family.

Preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Gussie Washington; brothers, Mose and Mo Washington; sister, Q.V. Boyd; and grandson, Josh James.
