Our Beloved Sunshine

March 20, 1930 — March 15, 2017

Our beloved Sunshine got his wings on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. Eligh Arnold was born on March 20, 1930 to Andrew Arnold Sr. and Lucy Daniel Arnold in Paulding County, Georgia.

Eligh met the Lord early in life and loved down-home preaching and singing. He was a devoted husband, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Eligh was employed at Saginaw Grey Iron Foundry retiring in 1982, and was a member of Local Union # 668. Eligh was a master chef, auto mechanic, painter, builder, babysitter and awesome gardener. His four daughters will always remember their time picking vegetables his way in his garden. Sunshine was always available anytime and any hour for anything that his family needed. He was the glue that held our family together. Sunshine loved to cook everything, but greens and cabbage were his specialty. He would call all his family to come and bring a bowl to take food home because nobody returned his bowls. He went through many challenges during his illness but that never stopped his smile and that is why we called him Sunshine. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

He leaves to cherish his memory four devoted daughters, Cathy (Herman) Sims, Diane (Michael) Sewell Sr., Patricia (Henry) Speight Jr., all of Saginaw, Michigan, and Kimberly Arnold of Mansfield, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Michael W.(Lisa) Sewell Jr., Anthony D. (Latoya) Sewell Sr., Marques D. (LaQuis) Sewell Sr., Jeremy D. Sewell, Alfonzie Pipkins Jr., Demarius Devon Pipkins, Tiffani M. Pipkins, Ondre Devonte Pipkins, Herman Breon (Alia) Sims, JaLeissa Marie (Amir) Speight, BreAna Michelle Speight, and Henry Aaron Jamal Speight:14 great-grandchildren: a host of nieces and nephews; sisters-in law, Marion Arnold and Annie Ree Arnold of Douglasville, Georgia, and Dorothy Arnold, Dayton ,Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jacqueline Orita Arnold; three sisters, Emma Lue Nation, Lizzie Mae Dooley, and Lucille Bowens; five brothers, Elisha, his twin, Andrew, William, John and Ollie Jo Arnold; step-mother, Carrie Bennett; step-brothers, Jim, Ben, and Lenny Bennett.

The family wishes to express special thanks to Pastor Vincent D. McMillon and the St. Paul Baptist Church family, Saginaw Senior Care and Rehab Center, Hoyt Nursing and Rehab Center for their exceptional care, and Ivan E. Phillips and the staff at Paradise Funeral Chapel.
