Pastor Andrew Lee Brodie passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Lansing in Lansing, Michigan. Age 78 years. He

was born on Monday, May 13, 1946, to Vanilla Hawthorn Brodie and Martin Jones in Hermondale, Missouri.


Pastor Brodie graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Caruthersville, Missouri in 1965. Upon graduation Pastor Brodie moved to Kansas City, Missouri where he worked numerous jobs until he joined the Navy in 1965 and served for 2 years.


Pastor Brodie moved to Lansing, Michigan where he worked for Lansing Parks and Recreation, Housing & Urban Development, Diversity Engineering as a certified welder, Spartan Cab, and Capital Area Community Services Head Start as a school bus driver. He continued to further his education by attending night classes at Lansing Community College and earned an associate degree in child development while still employed with Capital Area Community Services, eventually retiring in 1999.


Pastor Brodie's ministerial journey began when he accepted his calling in 1986 at St. Matthew AME Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Louis T. Perry, where he served as an Associate Minister. Later moving his membership to Zion Hill Holy Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Nathaniel Whitt. In 1990 Pastor Brodie was led to start his own ministry in which St. Luke Community Baptist Church was formed.


Pastor Brodie is a member of the Masonic Organization and Alpha & Omega Lodge #9 ( a subordinate under the Mount Sinai Grand Lodge) in Detroit Michigan . He worked and served in the Ministerial Alliance and The Grass Root Organization March for Justice.


Pastor Brodie was preceded in death by his first-born daughter Patricia Ann, parents, stepfather Mr. James Brodie, three brothers Deloise, Benjamin and Charles Brodie. Five sisters, infant Joanne Brodie, Jessie Mae Cammon and Pearlie Mae Pickings, Pearl Rollins and Ethel Lawery. Three nieces Levone E. Lloyd, Tehesha Wallace, and Gloria Brodie. One nephew Anthony Holbert.


He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Earleane of 52 years, children Edwin DeWayne of Atlanta Georgia, Fredrick Lashawn (Shijuana) of Troy Michigan, Andrea Renee (Alexander) Walton of Lansing, Michigan. 8 grandchildren, Alexander, Journey, Alexandrea, Elijah, Aaliyah, Amayah of Lansing, Michigan, Zauria,Tajajuan of Chicago, Illinois. 3 great-grandchildren Taliah, Jamir and Tajajuan Jr. all of Chicago, Illinois. Four siblings, Thelma ( Jerry) Earl, Ernestine (Robert) Watson, Alice (Thomas) Cain all of Lansing, Michigan and Daisy (Pastor Ralph) Amerson of Steele, Missouri. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
