Pastor Bertha Lee Goodman made her transition on Monday, April 11, 2022, at her residence in Saginaw, Michigan. Age 90 years. Pastor Goodman was born July 21, 1931, in Blytheville, Arkansas.
Pastor Goodman worked as a cook at Sullivan’s Restaurant, the famous Cook’s Restaurant, and the Hide-Out Bar & Grill. She received her General Educational Development (GED), and later attended Delta College for two years. Pastor Goodman graduated from American Theological Seminary, and in 2011, she became the Pastor of Lighthouse of Glory under the leadership of Bishop Ron Frierson.
Pastor Goodman leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Shirley (James) Franklin, Saginaw, Michigan, and Barbara Garcia Payne, Shelby Township, Michigan; five step-daughters, Marilyn Goodman, Dwenda Goodman, Lutha Mae Studivent, Sue Macon, and Ebony Hoosier, all of Saginaw, Michigan; three sons, Osborn (Sharon) Pugh, Jerome (Beverly) Holiday, Saginaw, Michigan, and Harold Ray, Chicago, Illinois; one sister, Katherine (William) Larde, Blytheville, Arkansas; eighteen grandchildren, Sherman, Carl, Febebby, Chris, Sha-Tasha, Sherrie, Cynthia, Karlessa, Shamonica, Deon, Monica, Charlotte, Kwanta, Michelleo, Brenda, and Pierre; twenty-six great-grands; eighteen great-great-grands; many nieces and nephews; one sister-in-law, Ann Ray; one brother-in-law, Shelly Harris; three best friends, Berniece Johnson, Doris Williams, and Shirley Hill.
Pastor Goodman was preceded in death by three sons, Calvin Pugh, Sherman Ray, and Carl Holiday; granddaughter, Elizabeth Garcia; her mother and father, Nettie Ray and Calvin Ray; seven sisters, Mamie Williamson, Herberdean Patton; Virgie Randolph, Annie Jewel Harris, Lue Edna Martin; Odessa Morrison, and Earlene Ray; four brothers, Sampson, William, Robert, and Edward Ray.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Southern Care Hospice Service, and Sharon Pugh, for the outstanding care provided during our mother’s lengthy illness.
