Pastor Emeritus Cora Lee Duncan passed away peacefully and was granted her angel wings on April 5, 2022, at the age of 84 years old, in Lansing, Michigan. Her final days were spent with family and loved ones.
Cora Lee Duncan was born to Willie Fred and Oidest Duncan of Curtis, Arkansas. She graduated from Peake High School in Arkadelphia, Arkansas in 1956 and soon followed her brothers Fred and Marvin to Lansing, Michigan. She worked at Michigan State University and Capital Area Head Start Program. She and her siblings were raised loving and playing the game of softball. So, it wasn’t long before she began playing, organizing, and managing women’s softball teams which were among Lansing’s best teams.
She retired in 1997 after 21 years from General Motors. She served as the plant chaplain at the GM Parts Plant. She was also a Church Mother at Jesus of Nazareth Church of God In Christ and loved to visit and minister at the jails, prisons, and nursing homes. She had a heart for working with the youth, as well as people dealing with social issues such as drugs, alcoholism, and homelessness.
Her love for people lead her to establish and pastor Vision of Love Outreach Ministry in 1991, which later became New Beginnings Ministry in 2012. She was the Overseer to Vessel of Praise Ministry. Pastor Emeritus Cora Duncan held many titles during her many years in ministry which included Pastor, Overseer, and Apostle. Other ministry affiliations included Exclusive Godly Women, Pastors Conference and Pastors Alliance.
Cora is preceded in death by her parents, Willie Fred and Oidest Duncan; 3 brothers, Marvin, Hollis and Riley Duncan; 2 sisters, Gloria Walker and Betty Giles, and grandson, John Alicea.
She leaves to cherish her memory 3 sons, Keith, Kenneth, and Anthony Duncan, and daughter, Michele Duncan; grandchildren, Christopher (Alanna) Vaughn-Thomas, Tarale Duncan, Freddie III (Capricia) Thomas, Jasmine Duncan-Bonner, Oliver Duncan, Marcus Duncan, and Akeia Duncan; several great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Martha (Joe) Miles and Velvely Ann (Thomas) Douglas; 3 brothers, Willie Fred, Clarence Alvin, and Marshall Terry (Lisa) Duncan; 2 sisters-in-law, Carolyn and Ruth Duncan; many nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.
