Pastor Ernesto Garza 'Neto'

January 2, 1945 — February 27, 2015

Pastor Ernesto L. Garza Neto peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on Friday, February 27, 2015 at the age of 70 years. He was born January 2, 1945 in San Antonio, Texas to Jesus and Jesusa Garza.
Ernesto was united in holy matrimony to Paula Charles on January 9, 1961. She survives him. To this union four children were born. He gave his life to Jesus Christ at an early age. Ernesto was a faithful member to La Iglesia De Dios at 2422 Fordney Street in Saginaw, Michigan which he pastored from 1968-1969 and again for 8 years from 2006-2014. He retired from General Motors Corporation after 30 years of service and was a member of UAW Local 668. Ernesto loved preaching the Gospel and spreading Gods word. He enjoyed hunting deer, fishing and taking family out on his boat. His presence will be truly missed.
He leaves to celebrate his legacy his beloved and dedicated wife of 55 years, Paula C. Garza; one son, Ernesto (Eloisa) Garza Jr. of Saginaw, Michigan; five daughters, Mary (Isaac) Garcia of Saginaw, Michigan, Lisa (Rick) Mihalic of Traverse City, Michigan, Elaine Garza of Saginaw, Michigan, Esther Garza of Saginaw, Michigan and Ernestina (Felipe) Ortega of Dallas, Texas; nineteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one beloved brother, Adeliado (Rita) Garza of Saginaw, Michigan; two sisters, Evangelina (Concepcion) Villarreal and Adelina (Mario) Blanco both of San Antonio, Texas; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including his special friends, Reverend Kevin Lehman, Reverend Oscar Dominguez, Reverend Efram Navas, Reverend Pete Murdock, Salvador Gomez, Gustavo Barrientes and Francisco Villarreal.
Pastor Ernesto was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Jesusa Garza, one brother, Francisco Garza, one sister, Selestina Garza, mother and father-in-law, Pedro and Martha Charles, one sister-in-law, Rosie Charles and two brothers-in-law, Rey Charles and Pedro Charles Jr.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Donna Garcia, his devoted son-in-law, Isaac Garcia for his kind and compassionate care given to our loved one and Reverend Pete Murdock for being there for our loved one in his greatest time of need.
