Pastor Kirklin Dean Hall, Sr. transitioned to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, August 9, 2018 in Battle Creek, Michigan. Age 69 years. He was born July 26, 1949 in Albion, Michigan to Deacon Willie and Mrs. Elinor Hall. He was the middle child of five children.
He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Albion, Michigan. He realized early that God had a special call on his life. While at Macedonia he became a deacon in training, sang in the male chorus, and was a junior usher board member. He graduated from Albion High School, then later attended Battle Creek Vocational Center sponsored by Kellogg Community College, he also attended both Jackson Community College and Lansing Community College where he received his Associates of Arts and Sciences degree in Electrical Mechanical Studies.
Kirklin met Ms. Barbara Talton in Jackson, Michigan at a baseball game and they were later married on July 1, 1978. They moved to Lansing, Michigan with their youngest daughter Nicole in 1982, where he began working as an electrician for Fisher Body, a division of General Motors Corporation.
Upon relocation to Lansing, he and his family joined Galilee Baptist Church. He faithfully served in many ministries including choir member, trustee, Sunday School Teacher, and youth facilitator, to name a few. In 1990, he accepted his call to preach and was later licensed and ordained. Following his ordination, he served as an associate minister, assistant minister, assistant/interim pastor until he was installed as the permanent pastor on April 26, 1998.
In addition to his church ministry responsibilities, he served as an Industrial Chaplain for the Local 602 UAW/GM Chaplaincy Program and as an on-call hospital chaplain at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing. His other professional responsibilities included serving as Industrial Electrician and Ergonomics Representative specially assigned to coordinator for the Body Plant 6, Small Car Group. He has worked in prison ministries, youth ministries, community outreach, and advocacy related to urban youth. Kirklin was the youth director for the Capital City District Missionary Baptist Association Incorporated.
Pastor Hall leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 40 years, Barbara; children, Anthony of Jackson, Michigan, Crystal of Battle Creek, Michigan, Dennis (Kellie) of Lansing, Michigan, Kirklin Jr. of the Philippines, and Nicole (Shaun) of Southfield, Michigan; nineteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one sister, Marlene of Battle Creek, Michigan; one brother, Bradford (Evelyn) of Albion, Michigan; God-son, Jordan Peete, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends, and many whose lives he touched so deeply from his amazing heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two siblings, and first wife, Shiffon.
