Saginaw

Mrs. Patricia Eugenia Mays (Singleton) heard God whisper her name on March 18, 2025, and went to her mansion in the sky. She was born on May 04, 1944, to Willie Charles and Willa Mae Singleton in Cleveland, Ohio, the youngest child of four girls.

Ms. Pat gave her life to Christ as a child at the Zion Baptist Church, where she was baptized and later joined the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Burt, Michigan, where she was a member for over 46 years. While at Mt. Zion, she served as the Director of Christian Education, Sunday School, and VBS Coordinator. She was active with the Mother’s Board, the Woman’s Department, Willing Workers, and the Youth Department, Saginaw Valley Baptist District, Wolverine State Convention, and the National Convention. She loved Jesus and believed in supporting the works of the church.

In 1963, she married the love of her life, Sylvester Charles Mays, and to that union two children were born: a daughter, Crystal Monique Mays, and a son, Anthony Charles Mays. She was in the first graduating class of the newly built Buena Vista High School (1962), and she attended Delta College, where she received her associate’s degree in business. She completed her professional career at the State of Michigan’s Secretary of State Office, retiring in 1992.

Ms. Pat enjoyed life to the fullest and no regrets. She loved spending time with family and talking to her favorite cousin (Laverne) on the phone for hours, traveling with all her equipment and bags, fellowshipping with the Saints, reading the Bible, watching the Lifetime and Hallmark channels, and doing word search puzzles.
