Patrick Debardelaben

August 2, 1951 — March 9, 2019

Patrick DeBardelaben was born August 2, 1951 in Saginaw, Michigan, the son of Willie Sr. and Johnnie (Benson) DeBardelaben. He was the fifth of seven children. On Saturday, March 9, 2019 in West Colombia, Texas, Patrick entered into eternal rest.

Patrick, “Pat”, graduated from Saginaw High School “Class of 1969”, where he played varsity basketball. He then went on to attend Delta College and played basketball for them as well. He later transferred to Central State University in Ohio and took online classes through Northern Arizona University. Pat believed in God and made his profession known in 1993 when he was baptized in Freeport, Texas.

Pat married Donna Richards in 1979. To that union a beautiful, baby girl named Shamia was born. He later married Rosette Blakes and they have remained friends through the years.

Most recently, Pat resided in West Colombia, Texas, where he retired from Northside Elementary School in 2017 after twenty years of service as a physical education instructor and coach. He was also a referee for the Texas Association of Sports Officials, as well as the American Softball Association.

Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Sr. and Johnnie DeBardelaben; brothers, Bernard DeBardelaben and Eddie Joe Benson.

He leaves to cherish precious memories his daughter, Shamia Patrice DeBardelaben, Santan Valley, Arizona; sisters, Rosemary Allen, Detroit, Michigan, Annette (Lewis) Williams, Saginaw, Michigan; brothers, Willie Jr. and Donald DeBardelaben, Saginaw, Michigan; five nieces; ten nephews; two aunts; one uncle; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends, including special friends in West Colombia, Texas, Colin Carter and Bruce Russ.
