Paula Charles Garza

Mrs. Paula Charles Garza went home peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan, at the age of 84 years, surrounded by her family and loved ones at her bedside until her last breath. Paula was born on February 4, 1939, in Harlingen, Texas, to the late Pedro and Marta Charles.

Paula Charles Garza was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan. She was the Pastor of Rey de Reyes Church of God. Paula worked for the Cass River Farms as a Crew Leader for 45 years under Mr. Milton and Greg Baase. She loved people with all her heart and lived to always give a helping hand. Paula loved gardening and working outdoors in agriculture.

On January 9, 1960, she married the love of her life, Ernesto L. Garza; they had been married for 55 years. Paula’s 4 children and grandchildren were her pride and joy; she loved them with all her heart.

Paula leaves behind to cherish her loving memory her son, Ernesto Garza Jr.; daughters, Mary (Isaac) Garcia of Saginaw, Michigan, Lisa (Rick) Mihalic of Traverse City, Michigan, Eliana Garza of Virginia, and Esther Garza, Saginaw, Michigan; also surviving are 16 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; siblings, Raul (Lupita) Charles, Esther C. Gonzales, Rafael (Denise) Charles, Maria Concepcion Ramirez, Javier (Yolanda) Charles, Marta Marty Charles, and Eloisa Charles, all of Harlingen, Texas, Elsa Eva Garza, Juan Jose (Frances) Charles; three sisters-in-law, Evangelina Garza Villarreal, Mamie Charles and Adelina Garza Blanco of San Antonio, Texas; very special cousin, Rita D Garza of Saginaw, Michigan, and Gustavo Dominguez of Houston Texas.

Paula was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Ernesto L. Garza; her parents Pedro and Marta Charles; father-in-law, Jesus Garza; mother-in-law, Jesusa Garza; siblings, Reyes (Magdalena) Charles, Pedro Charles II, Pedro Charles Jr., Rosalinda Tamayo, Isabel Charles, one and only special daughter-in-law, Eloisa Garza; sisters-in-law, Salestina Garza, Josefina Charles; brothers-in-law, Adelaido Garza Sr., Agapito Garza Sr.; nephews, Eddie Charles and Javier Charles, Jr. niece, Sandy Charles; and great-grandson, Johnathan Espinoza.

The Family would like to honor Paula’s daughters, Mary Garza Garcia and her family, Esther Garza, and her family, and Alena Fox, for being her caregivers for the last 5 years.
