Paula Antoinette Taylor went to be with our Lord and Savior on April 19, 2023. Paula passed away at Sparrow Hospital, surrounded by her sisters. She was born April 13, 1960, in Jackson, Michigan, to Craties Price Jr. and Pauline Taylor.
Paula “Poppy” will be fondly remembered for her kind heart, gentle nature, and firm and unyielding strength. The one that had a nickname for every family member and close friend. She attended Harry Hill High School and was her Family/Friends’ personal day care provider for many years. Even though she never had children, she was a second mother to her younger sisters, nieces, nephews, Jimmy “Boo” Lewis Jr., and many others. For many, she was a confidant, singer, cook, comedian, storyteller, teacher, phenomenal dancer, and let’s not forget, a great secret holder. Her love for her family never wavered from the upbringing she held close to her heart. To her, the family was where life began, and love never ended.
She leaves to cherish her memory eleven sisters, Robin Hall, of DeSoto, Texas, Sherry (Robert) Ford, Jan Wallace, Angela Davenport, April (Carl) Moore Sr, Tia Stanley, Alethia Thomas, Jemonica Thomas of Lansing, Jackie Price, Kenya Gillas, Symia Price of California; three brothers, Chilion Proffit III and Darryl Proffit, Halbert Crompton of Lansing; seven nephews; six nieces; sixteen great nieces and great nephews; three aunts, Claudette Hill, Milder Vaden, and Mona Coopper; one uncle, Lordell Taylor; and three special cousins, Christine (Ray) Brown, Lavon Young, and “brother” Kyron (Angle) Taylor.
She was preceded in death by special friend, Eric Hester; Jimmy “Boo” Lewis Jr., who was like a son; parents, Craties Price Jr. and Pauline Davenport; stepmother, Margaret Nell Price; stepfather, Thomas Davenport Jr.; grandparents, Craties Price Sr., Margaret Boyd Price, Jennie Barnette, and Claudell Taylor; sister, Lori Price; and special cousins, Jennette Littlejohn, Sterling Littlejohn, and “sister” Keyani Taylor.
The Family of Paula Taylor would like to thank the staff of the Specialty Floor of Sparrow Hospital for their dedication and the unwavering care they gave our sister during her stay at Sparrow Hospital, which was appreciated. May God continue to bless each of you.
Perhaps you sent a card or sat quietly in a chair. Perhaps you sent beautiful flowers, if so, we saw them there. Perhaps you prepared some tasty food. Perhaps you spoke the kindest words that any friend could say. Perhaps you were not there at all, just thought of us that day. Whatever you did to console our hearts, we thank you so much, whatever the part. May God forever bless each of you.
