Pearl Louise Hudspeth, affectionately known as “Sister”, “Miss Pearl” or “The Walmart Lady”, was born July 2, 1954 in Murray, Kentucky, the daughter of William and Muriel Hudspeth. She passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the age of 66 years.
Pearl was a dedicated member of the South 17th Street Church of Christ. She attended Delta College and studied social work. She enjoyed working retail and was employed at Burlington Coat Factory, Sears and her favorite, Walmart, from which she retired.
Pearl enjoyed spending time with family, finding rummage sales and baking her world-famous cakes and sweet potato pies. She enjoyed listening to the blues and Soul Town. She touched many lives with her sparkling personality, and she would go the extra mile to help anyone. She also enjoyed volunteering in the concessions area at The Carrolton Recreation Department.
Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, William and Muriel Hudspeth; brother, William Earl Hudspeth; special friend, Michael Huell.
She leaves precious memories with her children, Cathy Louise (Andre), LaKeshia Lee, Matthew Donavan; grandchildren, DeVontre’ Tyus, DeOntae Tyus, Jayden Akins, all of Saginaw, Michigan; sister, Norma Jean Hudspeth, Saginaw, Michigan; brothers, Richard (Christine) Knuckles, Gregory Lee Hudspeth, both of Saginaw, Michigan; one special cousin who was like a brother, Charles DyVonne Perrry; many other loving cousins, loved ones and friends, including special friends Clarine Coleman, Nelson Terry, Masker and Lois Clemons, Margo Tyus, Stacy Leverson and Minister Cedric Townsel.
The family would like to express special thanks to her Walmart Family, Dr. Claudia Zacharek, South 17th Church of Christ.
