In Loving Memory of Mrs. Peggie Ann Prince

Mrs. Peggie Ann Prince, a cherished mother, sister, aunt and friend, peacefully passed away on Monday, March 31, 2025, at Avista Nursing and Rehab Center at the age of 78.

Born on January 22, 1947, in Tallassee, Alabama, Peggie was the youngest of seven children born to Woodrow and Carrie Askew. As the baby of the family, Peggie's strong, feisty spirit and warm heart were evident to all who knew her. In 1964, she married the love of her life, Joseph Prince, with whom she shared a deep and enduring bond. Together, they built a life full of love, faith, and joy. During their marriage, they were blessed with three children: Reginald, Chadwick, and Leslie, who were the center of their world and the pride of Peggie’s heart.

A devoted member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, Peggie served faithfully as an Usher for many years, offering a welcoming presence to all who entered the house of worship. Her commitment to her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and her strong but loving personality touched many hearts in the community.

Peggie had a resilient passion for life and a love for the simple pleasures that brought her happiness. She was an avid music lover, often finding joy in melodies that brought peace to her soul. Cooking was another one of her passions—her family and friends fondly remember her making delicious dishes, pies and cakes that brought warmth to every family gathering. Peggie also loved to travel and explore new places, always finding time to visit with her loved ones near and far.

A lifelong learner, Peggie earned an associate degree from Delta College and demonstrated a remarkable work ethic throughout her life. She was an entrepreneur at heart, owning and operating her own catering business, where her culinary skills were highly sought after. Her entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to excellence inspired all who worked with her.

Peggie leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her three beloved children: Reginald Prince of San Diego, California; Chadwick Prince and Leslie Prince of Saginaw, Michigan. She is also survived by her loving sister, Sarah Canty of Saginaw, Michigan, two sisters-in-law, Carol Beverly and Grace Brown of Saginaw; two brothers-in-law, Robert (Ethel) Beverly Shaheed and Harold Beverly of Saginaw; and two special friends, Gwen Lavender, Penny Nathan, and a special niece, Jill R Beemon. Peggie will be deeply missed by her family, a host of nieces and nephews, and a wide circle of friends who were blessed to know her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Prince; her parents, Woodrow Askew and Carrie Lawson; and her siblings: Mary Smith, Helen Griggs, Walter L. Askew, Ronnie R. Askew and Thomas L Askew Sr.

Though she is no longer with us, Peggie's legacy of love, kindness, teachable moments, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of getting to know her. She will be greatly missed, but never ever forgotten.
