Percy Brown, Jr.

September 25, 1939 — January 3, 2019

Mr. Percy Brown, Jr. was born September 25, 1939 in Selma, Alabama to Percy Brown, Sr. and Lela Jenkins Brown. He went from labor to reward on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the age of 79 years.

Percy came to Saginaw, Michigan in 1948 at the age of nine years old. He attended Potter Elementary School, Central Middle School and Saginaw High School. He became employed with the General Motors Corporation Chevrolet Grey Iron Foundry and was a dedicated member of UAW Local 668. He worked diligently for forty-two years before retiring in 2005.

Percy was a well-dressed man. He loved to dress up and believed how a man dressed said a lot about him. He was a man of God who loved the Lord and doing church work. He was a faithful member of Prince of Peace Baptist Church and attended services weekly until his health started to decline. He served as an usher and was President of the Usher Board in addition to being an active member of the Laymen's Ministry. “Well done good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!”

Percy was preceded in death by his parents, Percy Sr. and Lela Jenkins Brown; brother, John S. Brown; niece, Renee Tinsley; nephew, David Freeman, Sr.; cousins, David Drake, Sr., Georgia and Gene Guster.

He leaves to celebrate his life two sisters, Leola Brown Gochett, Leanna Brown; eight nieces, Tena (Edward) Beamon, Yolanda Obayaghonna, Jomeisha (Javide) Gochett-Woodson, Delicia (Dilanjan) Smith, Ronda Robinson, Brendy Gochett, Linda Freeman, Pastor JoAnn Gochett; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including best friends, Deacon Charles and Share’ Patrick.

The family would like to express special thanks to Samaritas Nursing Home Staff, Harbor Section, Dr. Lioness, Dr. Jensen, Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel. Job well done, thank you!
