Mr. Phillip Terry Lipscomb
, a proud Veteran of the US Army, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at the age of 75 years. He was born June 6, 1947 in Gadsden, Alabama, to Annie Joe Lipscomb Weston and William H. Weston.

Terry was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan. However, he was educated in the Gadsden Public School District. At the age of 21 years, Terry enlisted in the US Army.  He valued this service highly and upon completion, received an honorable discharge. Medals and commendations he received include a Vietnam Service Medal with one Silver Service Star and one Bronze Service Star, and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation Badge. Terry was employed at First Ward Community Center in Saginaw, and General Motors Fisher Body Plant, Flint, Michigan.

Terry, a very loving and caring person, did not meet any strangers.  He fully embraced his role as a father and jumped in feet first.  He was the “ultimate girl dad.” Being Diane and Connie’s dad was about working to make the world better for his girls. Terry taught his girls how to fish as well as play sports. He recognized the importance of raising strong, independent women. It was strange for Terry’s siblings growing up with him knowing how “tough” and mischievous he was and then seeing his daughter’s turn “tough” Terry into a softie. He would do anything to put a smile on their face. He truly loved his family and will be greatly missed by all.

He leaves to cherish wonderful memories his loving daughters, Dianne R. Barnes and Constance E. Lipscomb of Saginaw, Michigan; four sisters, Sheilda Braddock and  Merchelle Weston, Saginaw, Michigan, Sandra (John) Harris of Gadsden, Alabama, and Laverne Weston, Birmingham, Alabama; three brothers, William (Sherron) Weston Jr, and Anthony (Robin) Weston Sr, of Gadsden, Alabama, and  Erwin (Loretta) Weston, Loganville, Georgia; stepmother, Mrs. Beatrice Weston of Gadsden, Alabama; special nieces, Monica Vaughn, Kim Lloyd, Kinesha (Willie) Mason, Candice Braddock, Gerri Evans, Shalon, Auriell, JaTia, Tasha and Lacie Weston; special nephews, David (Sharon) Vaughn, Derek Riley Sr., Allen Weston, Scott Weston, Anthony Weston Jr., and a host of other nieces and nephews, including special great-nephews Dequavion Devance and Derek Riley Jr; special cousins, Deandrea Lipscomb, Frances and Izona McFee; special friends, Danielle Johnson, Jessica Barnes, Rashad Montgomery, Reba Lawrence, and Michelle Kinchen. Special thanks to Patricia Ann Thomas, Allen Lindsey, PA, Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center, Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Lipscomb was preceded in death by his mother and father, William and Annie Jo Weston; grandparents, Joe and Janie Lipscomb; sisters, Constance E. Lipscomb and Debra Weston McCray; uncles, Robert J. Lay, Larry Lipscomb and T.R. Lipscomb.

Instead of flowers, Terry would want you to express your gifts of kindness to those he loved and valued most, his daughters Connie and Diane.

“Don’t say goodbye to me, see you later.” Phillip Terry Lipscomb
