Pierre La’Shae Perkins was born July 13, 1992, in Saginaw, Michigan to Felecia K. Perkins and James “Jimmy” York.
Pierre graduated from Transitions Center in Saginaw, Michigan in 2018. He attended three proms but was escorted to his first prom by his “homegirl” and aunt “Dee.”
Pierre attended Lighthouse Full Life Center Church under the leadership of Pastor Marvin L. Sapp. In 2010, he gave his life to the Lord at New Galilee Full Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Luciose Lewis, Jr. Pierre was a dedicated and faithful servant and served wherever he was needed in church. He was an Usher, Armor Bearer, Pastor’s Aid and was recently installed as a Deacon. He attended church regularly with his grandmother, Nora Perkins and loved his Pastors, Luciose Lewis, Jr., Aundrea Lewis, his favorite musicians and the entire New Galilee Full Gospel Baptist Church family. Pierre served as a worker at the Transitions Center worksite and worked at nursing homes and local churches. While at the Transitions Center, he participated in the Special Olympics and was a member of the YMCA and a local bowling team. Pierre was a “people” person and loved family. He was also a ladies’ man. His favorite artist of all time was the “King of Pop,” Michael Jackson.
Pierre was voted “Best Dancer,” “Best Bowler,” “Best Swimmer,” “Best Dressed,” “Best Helper” and “Best Artist.” Pierre was an avid swimmer and basketball player.
Pierre leaves to cherish his memory, three brothers, Jermaine Perkins (Saginaw), Taylor Davis (Saginaw) and Davida Crisler (Detroit); one sister, Leniece Crisler (Detroit); his grandmother, guardian and best friend, Nora Perkins (Saginaw); father, Jimmy (Shirley) York (Saginaw); seven uncles: Michael Perkins (Saginaw), Victor Perkins (Minnesota), Maurice Perkins (Grand Rapids), Gregory (Michelle) Perkins (Virginia), Martin Perkins (Grand Rapids), Marcus Perkins (Saginaw); Robert Perkins (Saginaw); four aunts, Deidra Perkins (Saginaw), Madge (Willie) Pettigrew (Grand Blanc), Jackie Perkins (Iowa), and Annie Fields (Saginaw); two great aunts: Cora Thomas (Florida), Ola Perkins (Virginia). Pierre has many cousins: Michael Hopkins, Nichelle (Jarahn) Tye, Xavier Lee, Ahmad Foster, Qvon Perkins, Katitia Marietta, Deniece (Daniel) Batichon, Todd (Alexus) Perkins, Tiaira Perkins, Ashley Perkins, Monica Thomas, Marquesha Thomas, Dominique Thomas, Lakenya Thomas, Marcus Perkins, Jr., Marquavis Perkins, Janicqua Perkins, Makeen Simmons, Maleka Littlejohn and countless family and friends; three nieces, I’yonnie Boggs, Yazlin and Lalani Castillo; one nephew, Tony Jacquelle Boggs, III.
Special mention: cousin and friend John “Bubba” Torrence, Moe Woods, Madeline O’Neal, Elizabeth Hinton, Edgar Jackson and Julius Johnson; Respite Care workers, Omar Jones and Larry Sanders; friend (uncle) Jimmie (PeeWee) Swilley; Cheryl Taylor and Transitions Center staff.

Pierre was preceded in death by his mother, Felecia K. Perkins, his brother, Tony Jacquelle Boggs, Jr., great-grandmother, Maggie Perkins, great-grandfather, James Eugene Perkins, Sr. great grandfather, Jake Adams; uncles James Perkins and William Perkins, and great aunt “Lady” Margaret Perkins.
