Pinkie Kelley

January 20, 1923 — March 19, 2014

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1
Pinkie Kelley of Saginaw, Michigan passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Covenant Healthcare at the age 91 years. Pinkie was born in Sunflower, Mississippi on January 20, 1923 to Samuel and Lillie Jeffries who preceded her in death.
Pinkie was a beloved and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Pinkie was an advocate of education and she was educated in the Sunflower, Mississippi School District. Pinkie met and married the love of her life John Kelley in Sunflower, Mississippi and out of that union seven blessed children were born. Prior to her husband?s death they were married fifty?four years. Our mother was saved as a young lady and she rededicated her life to the Lord. She enjoyed meditating on the word of God as our youngest brother Charles would often read the bible to her. Mom appreciated Saturday afternoons, because she knew her family would assemble together in sharing the inspiring word of God.
She enjoyed toiling in her vegetable and flower garden during the warm summer months. She was an awesome cook and her family appreciated sitting around the family dinner table to a delightful meal. Our mother enjoyed talking to her neighbors and being a role model to her family. She also looked forward to going fishing with her fishing buddy Mrs. Prescott. Pinkie cherished trips, reunions, holidays and gathering with her family. Her doors were always open to those who were in need as she provided encouragement and care to her lovely family and friends.
Pinkie leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Johnnie and Charles (Rose) Kelley; three daughters, Lula Kelley Foster, Florine Kelley and Dorothy Kelley all of Saginaw, Michigan; seventeen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Waltee Duncan, Clara Truss and one brother- in- law, Sammy Kelley all of Chicago, Illinois; one god-daughter, Donna McKinney; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Pinkie was preceded in death by her husband, John Kelley, two sons, Samuel and Roscoe Kelley, one grandson, Rickey Kelley and three sisters.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Covenant Health Care and staff for their support.
