Porter Lee Ford

Mr. Porter Lee Ford passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013 in Houston, Texas surrounded by his family. Age 81 years. He was born November 16, 1931 in Plain Dealing, Louisiana to Walter and Moattie Ford.
Porter was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan Porter was a retiree of General Motors and was a UAW Local 668 member before going to Houston, Texas, he was a member of Greater Williams Temple COGIC under the leadership of Bishop H.J. Williams. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and singing. Porter was a jack of all trades. He was skilled in auto maintenance, carpentry, plumbing and any type of electrical work. Porter loved talking on his CB. His code name was Eastside Kidd. Porter did not like good-byes, so lets all end with "See you later.
He leaves to cherish his memory his grandchildren, Nequel Ford, Charles Eiland, Shawntel Jackson and Douglas M. Williams Sr.; five great-grandchildren, Thomas Lee Davis, Joseph Theon Davis, Douglas M. Williams Jr., Jasmine D. Williams and Carrington Nichole Hayes; three sisters, Mary Wade, Evelyn Marie Sittig, Sylvia Lee Henderson; one brother, Henry Johnnie (Dorothy) Ford; many other relatives and friends.
Porter was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Holden Ford, one daughter, Linda Yvonne Ford, one stepson, Douglas Marcel Holden, parents, Walter and Moattie Ford, four sisters, Eula Lee Hall, Euradell Smith, Lucille Spencer, Edwina McCree, four brothers, Walter Ford Jr., L.B. Ford, Glenn Odell Ford and Norman Lee Ford Sr.
The family would like to express special heartfelt thanks to Clearthur Hodge Jr., Louise Jones, Darnita Hodge, Mary Ross, Brother Virgil Walker, Sylvia Williams, Louise Reynolds, Rita Vaughn, Angela Sammons and Helette Johnson.
