Pastor Prince Wilson Fentress peacefully departed this life and went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan. As a son of the King and a servant to others, he displayed his love for God and love for others in many ways.
Prince Wilson Fentress was born on October 17, 1930 in Jackson, Tennessee to Sam and Lessie Fentress. He was the oldest of eleven children born to this union.
During his early years, he worked various jobs to help his parents and siblings on the family farm. At the age of nineteen years old, he came to Saginaw in 1950 to find work. Prince was hired at the Chevrolet Foundry where he retired on December 25, 1975. He enjoyed telling stories of him being fired twice only to be rehired the next day because of his strong work ethic. A relief man in the plant was his last and best job, he said. However, many times Wilson worked 2-3 jobs to support his family.
Prince Wilson Fentress served as Pastor of Miracle Faith Temple Church in Saginaw and pastored additional churches for approximately forty years. He preached the gospel of Jesus Christ, where many people received the gift of salvation. Wilson prayed and studied the Word of God daily. His other passions included gardening, cooking, storytelling, fellowshipping with family and friends and serving as a mentor. Even though we mourn our loss, we know we will see him again.
Pastor Fentress was preceded in death by John, Hazel, Percy, Ray and Samuel (June).
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Callie Fentress; daughters, Dorothy (Bernell) Fentress-Gay, Clinton Township, Michigan, Cynthia Fentress, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Elaine Fentress, Saginaw, Michigan; son, Frederick Fentress, Saginaw, Michigan; grandchildren, Mark Wilson Gay, Cray, North Carolina, Nina Fentress-Parker, Texas; siblings, Thomas (Brooxie), Farmington Hills, Michigan, Joe (Belinda), Detroit, Michigan, Murry (Burnie), Bonnie Allen, both of Saginaw, Michigan, Vera (Cliff) Merriweather, Jackson, Tennessee; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including special friends Matthew Wright, Lee Finch and D. Wayzo Moore.
The family would like to express special thanks to Covenant Hospital and Staff, Miracle Faith Temple Church, Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
