Rachel Evans

Rachel Evans passed away Saturday, August 31, 2013 at University of Michigan Health System. Age 78 years. She was born March 12, 1935 in Aliceville, Alabama to Daisy and Henry Hughes.
Mrs. Rachel Evans resided in Columbus, Mississippi for over 40 years. She relocated to Saginaw, Michigan 8 years ago. Rachel loved the Lord and was a Baptist all her life. She worked as a housekeeper for many years. Rachel enjoyed fishing, gardening and shopping. She had many friends who loved her. Many have said that she was as sweet as sugar. Rachel loved her daughter and family very much. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory one daughter, Jeannette Davis (Sam Washington); eight grandchildren, Geraldine Owens, Jacqueline (Jason) Young, Earl Davis, Ann Davis, Sareta Davis, Fred Davis and Annette Davis, all of Saginaw, Michigan, Makeba Little, Nashville, Tennessee; seventeen great-grandchildren, Cortez Owens of Saginaw, Michigan, Taquonna and Cedric Little, both of Nashville, Tennessee, Kentavia Davis, Demianna Reynolds, Nosaj Young, Earl Davis Jr., Kya Young, Shadesma Reynolds, Takya Wells, Tiah Young, Ammiron Givens, Desmariah Reynolds, Gwendolyn Badger, DeQuavion Givens, DeMariante Givens and Michael Davis Jr., all of Saginaw, Michigan; two brothers, Neil James Hughes and Will Hughes both of Aliceville, Alabama; a very special niece, Brenda Hughes; many other relatives and friends.
Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Willie C. Evans, parents, Daisy and Henry Hughes, her sisters, Sally B. and Katie Hughes, one brother, Wallace Hughes, one grandson, Michael Davis, four nephews, Archie, Erskine, Tom Jr. and Will Henry Hughes.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Ivan E. Phillips and the staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel and the nurses of University of Michigan Health System for their compassion and care shown to our loved one during her stay.
