Mr. Rex Laury transitioned after a long valiant fight surrounded by his daughters and granddaughters on Monday, September 4, 2023, at 69. Rex was born June 12, 1954, to Lillie Mae Frazier and Z.L. Laury.
Rex was a graduate of Saginaw High School Class of ‘72 and was employed by Geni. He had many talents including painting and fixing things. Rex enjoyed playing chess, watching old westerns, and sports. He also found peace while taking long bike rides and spending time with his grandchildren in which a few developed the name Holla Box. Rex was a beast on the grill, and he loved being with his family.
Rex leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Shanelle Castell, Yondina Laury, and Qiana Laury; grandchildren, Ernest Moten Jr., Ta’Juan Laury, Georgia Moten, Dwandra (Mario) Williams, Jack Laury, Jac’Keyah Tillman, Ra’Miyaa Laury, MyAngel Laury, and AnTwan Ward Jr; great-grandchildren, DaiVon, Saniah, Lyrik, Lauren, Randell, Ernest, Ta’Juan Jr., Landen, Mario, Erhynn, and Jae’Don; his mother, Lillie Mae Frazier; five sisters, Vivian Spiller, Monica, Rockeandrea, Keisha, and Daisha Frazier; brothers, Darrell, Kentrez, Jonathan and Ronald Frazier; six nieces; six nephews; three aunts, Virginia Redmond, Douglass, Georgia, Shirley (Ronnie) Fields, Houston, Texas, and Johnny Jackson; a host of cousins; two sisters-in-law, Doris Laury, and Brinda “Kay Kay” Laury; many other relatives and friends including lifelong friend, Myron Thompson, special cousins, Rosie Diggs, and Lynn Green “Verta, ” as he called her.
Rex was preceded in death by his father Z. L. Laury; four brothers, James, Leon, Perry, and Henry; two nieces, Marvina, and Terry Laury; and uncle, Charlie Jackson.
