Richard L. Truman (Jackson, Mi)

Mr. Richard L. Truman, age 72 years old, left this world peacefully at Henry Ford Allegiance Health in Jackson, Michigan on Sunday, October 15th, 2023. He was born in Jackson, Michigan on Wednesday, May 16th, 1951, to his late mother Claudia Truman and his stepfather Ernest Stone Sr.

Richard moved to Chicago as a young boy and spent his childhood in the Fillmore Neighborhood on the West Side. He went to Sumner Elementary and Marshall High School, where he showed great skill in baseball as a catcher. He obtained a business certificate from Marian College and a criminal justice certificate from Jackson Community College, both with honors. Richard was an avid fan of sports and followed the Chicago Bulls, White Sox, and Bears. He also loved music and had a deep knowledge of jazz and R&B genres. He had a collection of vinyl records and liked to go to concerts and spend time with his family. He had a gift for singing and could charm anyone with his smooth voice. He sang at family events and whenever he felt the music. Richard married Faylawnda Redmond, and they had four children together: Darlynn, Ericka, Damar, and Justin Richard "JR". He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He worked as an accountant, a fast-food worker, and with troubled youths. He retired in 2013. He touched many lives and will be dearly missed.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Faylawnda “Fay”; children, Darlynn, Ericka, Damar, and Justin Richard "JR"; 7 grandchildren, 4 siblings, 10 nieces, 5 nephews, many cousins, other relatives and many friends. 

He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather.
