Mr. Richard V. Lewis, Sr
. passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at Covenant HealthCare Harrison. Age 80 years. He was born June 29, 1942, in Buffalo, New York, to Shirley Lewis and Bill Loafer.


Richard moved to Saginaw, Michigan, at the age of 18, to work at General Motors.  He was also employed at the Sugar Beet Factory in Carrollton, Michigan, for a few years. Richard retired from General Motors after 25 years of service.


Richard enjoyed fishing, singing, spending time with his children and grandchildren, taking care of his fish tank, recording movies, watching horror movies, cooking, barbecuing, sitting on the porch, and playing the lottery. Richard also loved Cadillacs, and his favorite color was blue. He also enjoyed listening to Motown R&B classic songs.  Richard always had jokes to tell.


He leaves to cherish his memory six daughters, Candice “Candy” Lewis, Saginaw, Michigan, Monique Reid, Buffalo, New York, Tonya Ryan, Anchorage, Alaska, Denise Meyers, Saginaw, Michigan, Taleda Gibbs, and Sherry Gibbs, Saginaw, Michigan; three sons, Richard “Richie” (Ryan) Lewis Jr., Atlanta, Georgia, Sean Lewis Sr., and Walter Gibbs, both of Saginaw, Michigan; grandchildren, Kevin Jeter (Christian), Ahshah Shakuurah, Angelous “AJ” Washington Jr., Marquan Jackson, both of Saginaw, Michigan, Hunter Lewis, and Rashard Lewis, both of Atlanta, Georgia, Seaniah Lewis, Treyveon Lewis, Sean Lewis Jr., all of Saginaw, Michigan; many more grand and great-grandchildren; many other relatives and special friends including Delores Lewis; cousins, MacArthur Corley, Vicky Corley-Hayes, Cindy Corley-Washington, Betty Nettles, Patricia Bragg, and the entire Corley family, and extended family in Buffalo, New York.


Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Lewis; father, Bill Loafer; special aunts, Doris Corley, and Irma “Mickey” Snyder; and cousin, Clyde Strother.


The family would like to express special thanks to Covenant HealthCare Cooper and Harrison Campus.


Family and close friends are invited to the family dinner at 1321 Brown Street from 6:00PM – 9:00PM.
