Rick Ayers

December 11, 1950 — March 5, 2013

Ricky Samuel Robinson Ayers passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at St. Marys Medical Center. Age 62 years. He was born December 11, 1950 in Tacoma, Washington to Erma Coman and James Ayers.
Ricky relocated to Detroit, Michigan where he grew up and attended Sacred Heart and Madonna Schools. He continued his education at Wayne State University. In 1969 he joined the United States Navy where he became a Navy Seal. After leaving the military he returned to Detroit and began working at General Motors. He later began working for the Department of Transportation. Being an avid jazz fan, he became the founder and CEO of Aquarious Records and Recording Studio. His most important accomplishment was when he found Christ and joined Freedom Full Gospel Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Eddie Bragg. Ricky always had quaint sayings and words of wisdom. His favorite phrase was Its good to be seen. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He lives to cherish his memory his wife, Ira Ayers Bunny three daughters, Kamilah Ayers, Dana (Charles) Thompson, Leah Thompson; four sons, Vincent Ayers, Christopher (Latina) Thompson, Nicholas (Denise) Thompson, Terrance (Alesia) Thompson; several grandchildren including Makayla Thompson The One, Paige and Nathaniel Nichols; a special adopted mother, Willie Ruth Morris; one sister, Anna Louise Yarger; one brother, Allen Coman; nieces, Wittye (Henry) Wilson, Sophia Jordan, Akiesha Yarger, Alexis Yarger; nephews, Anthony (Debra) Yarger, Dujuan (Danelle) Yarger, Robert Brooks II, Richard Yarger, Zachary Wilson, Eric Handy Jr., William (Yvonne) Lash, Andre Wilson, Antwane Yarger; two sisters-in-law, Lucy (Nelson) Kincaid, Sandra Handy.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Erma K. Coman and James Ayers, one brother, Bennie Coman, one sister, Theresa Allman, one special brother, Eric Handy.
The family would like to express special thanks to his adopted sister, Louann Fresougr.
