Our beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend Mr. Rickey Lee Willis departed this life for his eternal rest with our heavenly Father on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 following a lingering illness. Age 57 years. Rickey Lee Willis was born May 6,1953 in Chicago, Illinois to James Jr. and Ruth B. Willis.
He came to Saginaw, Michigan as a child and attended Saginaw Public Schools and Carrollton High School. Rickey enjoyed reading his bible and taking early morning walks in the park, where he was alone with nature and speaking to God. He said this gave him much peace. He also enjoyed listening to music and working on computers. While attending Carrollton High School and working as a teacher's assistant, Rickey developed and created a computer program that would assist teachers in monitoring students attendance. He also was the recipient of the "Darby Delta College Scholarship if 1992". Later Rickey obtained his certificate as a PC
Technician and Software Instructor and displayed a willingness to help others overcome the challenges of using a computer. He especially enjoyed teaching children and watching the expressions on their faces.
Rickey leaves to cherish his memory his father, James Willis Sr., Cleveland, OH.; three sisters, Beverly J. Willis, Saginaw, MI., Rochelle Graham, Chicago, IL., Lisa Willis, Cleveland, OH.; three uncles, Charles (Mary Ella) Dunn, Saginaw, MI., Curtis (Connie) Dunn, Lansing, MI., Herbert Dunn, Detroit, MI.; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including a special nephew, Thanayi Lawson, Saginaw, MI., also special cousin, Nellie Ellis, Chicago, IL.; special friends, David and Namuli Adams, Tyrone Lawson, Cleon Moe, Paulette Franklin and all of his extended family.
Rickey was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth B. Willis; grandfather, Samuel Dunn; and grandmother, Mary Willis.
