Mr. Riley Thompson passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018 in Haslett, Michigan. Age 67 years. He was born May 12, 1950 to Earnest R. and Nancy M. Thompson in Enterprise, Alabama.
Riley received his formal education in the Alabama School District. He relocated to Lansing, Michigan as a youngster. He was employed by General Motors in the Fisher Body Division from 1969 to 2004. He Retired after 37 years of dedicated service. Riley enjoyed reading, fishing, traveling, carpentry. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Riley was a person that loved his privacy. He was very generous and giving, and straight-forward. He said exactly what was on his mind, while still treating everyone with love, respect, and dignity.
He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Tina Guy, Kimberly Thompson; four sons, Lawrence McDonald, Kevin McDonald, Michael Thompson, Jason Thompson; siblings, Earnestine (John) William, Georgia Overholtz, Francis Carlisle, Martha “Penny” Hunter, Willie Thompson, Linda Thompson, Eva (Sam) Jones, Ernest Thompson, Jr.; uncle, James Thompson; aunt, Vernell Brown; mother-in-law, Elma Johnson: brother-in-law, Willie Calloway; ex-wife, Nina Thompson, although divorced, Riley and Nina shared 28 years of marriage and remained the closest of friends until his passing; many other relatives, friends, and his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Thompson; sister, Amanda Jean Brown; brother-in-law, Steve Overholtz.
