Robert Edward Kelly

Robert Edward Kelly passed away Friday, February 19, 2021 at his residence. Age 62 years. Robert was born June 4, 1958 in Saginaw, Michigan to John H. Kelly Sr. and Annie Pearl (Fleming) Kelly.

Robert was a graduate of Saginaw High School “Class of 1976”. He was employed with Saginaw Public Schools District where he worked in many capacities from Coach, Teacher, Mentor and Advocate. His coaching career began early after graduating and receiving his bachelor’s degree from New Mexico Highlands University; he later received his Master’s Degree from Texas T-I.

His coaching experience included: Head Boys Basketball 7th grade Coach, Lubbock Wilson Jr. High School, Lubbock, TX; Head Boys Basketball 9th Grade Coach, Arthur Eddy Jr. High School; Head Boys Basketball Ball 9th Grade Coach, Central Jr. High School; Head JV Basketball Coach, Saginaw High School; Head Boys Basketball Coach, North Middle School; Head Girls Coach, Bridgeport High School; Graduate Assistant Wide-receiver Coach, New Mexico Highlands University; Assistant Football 7th Grade Coach Lubbock Wilson Jr. High; Graduate Assistant Wide-receiver Coach Texas A&I University; Head Boys 9th Grade Football Coach Arthur Eddy Jr. High School; Head JV and Assistant Varsity Football Coach Saginaw High School; various Girls and Boy’s AAU Teams.

Robert leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Tamelka M. Richardson-Doster, Sherri R. Kelly; two grandsons, Michael King Jr., Darquese Doster; great-granddaughter, Autumn Doster; brothers, James (Barbara) Fleming, Alfred Fleming; sisters, Helen (Riley) Fleming-Lutz, Sabrina Satchell; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, MANY close friends, including special friends Sabre Winchester and Phillip Verdusco.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John H. Kelly, Jr. and Larry Kelly.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the employees of Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital and Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
