Robert Ford

August 2, 1928 — December 18, 2013

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, Mr. Robert Ford went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at the age of 85 years. He was born August 2, 1928 in Huntsville, Alabama to Mae Lizzy Norris and Johnny Ford.
Robert relocated to Saginaw, Michigan in 1948 where he met and married his wife of 61 years, Mrs. Roxie Mae Ford. She survives him. He was employed by General Motors and was a member of UAW Local 668. Robert retired in 1975 after 33 years of faithful service. He enjoyed cooking, hunting, fishing, listening to the blues and relaxing on his porch. Robert was especially fond of his favorite TV shows Matlock and Walker Texas Ranger. His presence will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Roxie Mae Ford; two daughters, Curtise (Dudley) Tatem of Country Hill, Illinois and Ann Ford of Saginaw, Michigan; three grandsons, Sterling Tatem of Country Hill, Illinois, Matthew D. Ford of Saginaw, Michigan, Justin (Momoko) Tatem of the United States Air Force; two great-grandsons, Matthew D. Ford Jr.Big Baby and Deontay Marion Ford; one brother, Otha (Lillian) Ford of Huntsville, Alabama; one aunt, Mattie Scruggs of Huntsville, Alabama; one special nephew, Charles (Sarah) Ford of Pontiac, Michigan; special nieces, LaJoyce (TJ) Jones of Detroit, Michigan, Lottie Hayden of Pontiac, Michigan, Willie Mae (Freddie) Parks of Huntsville, Alabama; one special cousin, B.B. (Charles) Bankston of Inkster, Michigan; one sister-in-law, Jewell Rhodes; two godsons, Devon Shine and Jronquae Duncan; many other relatives and friends including special friends, Charlene (Morgan) Robinson, Pat (Gloria) Lathon, Joe Gray, John Parham, L.J. Johnson, Sam Pruitt and the Jones family.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers and seven sisters.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Ivan E. Phillips and the staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel, the fourth floor ICU staff of Covenant Healthcare-Cooper and the friends and family who have offered their condolences, prayers and kind words.
