Robert Gilbert (Lansing)

Robert Duane Gilbert passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. Age 63 years. He was born August 20, 1955 in Lansing, Michigan, the son of John and Shirley Gilbert.

Robert lived in Lansing with his wife of 35 years, Lauretta. He enjoyed fishing, tinkering with cars, building bikes, working on anything with a motor. Robert loved to be around his family; he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. They were his pride and joy! He was a true survivor and a fighter until the end.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Lauretta Gilbert; 6 children, Crystal Sprague, Cammy Cummins, Jodi Gilbert, Nathan Gilbert, Tracy Gilbert and Ashley (Will Shearer) Gilbert; stepchildren, Ronald (Sherrylynn) Palmateer and David Palmateer; 32 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Sharon (Brian) Wey; 3 brothers, John Gilbert; Steven Gilbert and William (Bonny) Gilbert; 15 nieces, 11 nephews, numerous great nieces and great nephews; aunts, uncles, cousins, brother-in-law, Wayne Clark, many other relatives and friends including special life long friend, Robert Ribar.

He was preceded in death by his parents; former wife, Rebecca Gilbert; 2 brothers, Donald and Daniel; parents-in-law, Clarence and Beverly Clark.

Robert always had a reply if you asked him where he was going. He now leaves us with, “Tally HO, Gotta Go Chicago!!”
