Robert Harrison "Big Bob"

Mr. Robert Harrison “Big Bob” passed away on October 18, 2023, at Covenant HealthCare Cooper in Saginaw, Michigan, at the blessed age of 91 years. He was born on May 25, 1932, in Hamburg, Arkansas, to Daisy and Woody Harrison.

Robert accepted Jesus Christ at an early age, was baptized, and attended Robinson Chapel Church with his Big Ma and his siblings. Bob retired from the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System after 32 years of service. After relocating to Saginaw, Michigan, in 1991, Bob married the love of his life, Thelma Sutton, in 1992. They were blessed with 32 years of marriage. Bob united with the Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Willie Hill, Jr. He loved his family and friends, enjoyed dancing, and was known for saying “It’s nice to be nice.”

He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters and one son, Lorie Wade, Sheila Harris, and Darry Wade, all of Cleveland, Ohio; goddaughter, Jessica Ramirez; godson, Jermine “Fox” Surles; twenty-two grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Ida Belle (Freeman) Lenoir of New Orleans, Louisiana; many nieces, nephews, uncles and cousins; one special nephew, Antwine Sutton, Cleveland, Ohio; two aunts, Mary Sutton, Saginaw, Michigan, and Rose Conover, Freehold, New Jersey; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carrie (Willie) Whitley, Mary (Charles) Helton, James (Debra) Sutton, Aggie (Evelyn) Sutton, Jessie Avery, Ruby Winston, Rosa Sutton, Clara Blackmon, all of Saginaw, Michigan, Anna Sutton and Patricia Sutton of Cleveland, Ohio; many other relatives and friends including special friends William Smith and Nathan Carter, Cleveland, Ohio.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Daisy and Woody Harrison; sisters, Ruth, Gertrude, Mable, and Ora Belle Smith.
