Robert Hayes

June 29, 1946 — June 23, 2020

Our beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and friend went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at the age of 73 years. He was born June 29, 1946 in Braden, Tennessee, the son of Sylvester and Ella B. Hayes.

Robert started his career with General Motors at the Grey Iron Foundry in Saginaw, Michigan and later transferred to the plant in Defiance, Ohio. He was an active member of UAW Local 211 for thirty years. He retired in October 1996.

Robert enjoyed spending time with his entire family during the holidays, family gathering, listening to music, going to the casino, playing dominos, cards, lottery and hanging out with his friends at the neighborhood store. His presence will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those awaiting his arrival in Heaven include his parents, Sylvester and Ella Hayes; all twenty of his siblings; aunts, Plummie Williams, Mary Lou Westbrook, Callie Billingsley; uncle, Harry Hayes; son-in-law, Eric Jones “Big E”; niece and nephew Patricia Jones and Spencer Green Jr.; brothers-in-law, Spencer Green Sr., Albert Green and Emerson Crenshaw Jr.

His precious memory will always be cherished by his children, Jennifer Jones, Saginaw, Michigan, Cheryl A. and Sharon M. Hayes, both of Buffalo, New York, Lacy (Joshua) Williams-Goulet, Bay City Michigan; grandchildren, Marcus Jackson, MarQuevous Jackson, Eriyana Jones, Erykha Jones, Diamond Tolliver-Washington, Willow Mason, Alexander Collins, Alivia Collins, all of Saginaw, Michigan; great-grandchildren, Jaden Washington, Jakarri Washington, both of Saginaw, Michigan; great-aunt, Beatrice Rockette, Buffalo, New York; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other loved ones and friends, including special friend Teresa Perez.

The family wishes to express our sincere gratitude to all of you for your prayers, presence, love, telephone calls and all other expressions of concern that you have shown during our time of bereavement. Never more than now was your kindness needed and more appreciated. Special thanks to Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital Emergency Department/ICU, Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel. May God continue to bless each of you.
