Robert L. "Bobby" Scott

December 19, 1943 — October 18, 2019

Mr. Robert Lawrence Scott was born December 19, 1943 in Kimball, West Virginia, the son of William Sr. and Geraldine Scott. He passed away Friday, October 18, 2019 after 75 blessed years of living.

Robert, affectionately called “Bobby” by family and close friends, was a graduate of Saginaw High School, “Class of 1961.” In May of 1961, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Bobby particularly enjoyed being stationed at Wurtsmith Air Force Base in Oscoda, Michigan. Upon completion of his military service, he received an Honorable Discharge. He was a member of the Ninth Street Community Church. Mr. Scott retired from the General Motors Corporation Saginaw Malleable Iron Foundry Division after many dedicated years of service. During his employment, he was affiliated with UAW Local 455.

Bobby loved to hunt, watch sports, westerns, and eat old fashioned home-cooked meals. He was a great dresser and loved muscle cars. Later in life, his grandchildren were his pride and joy; he enjoyed every moment with them. Bobby was the type of person who would do anything to help anyone. He had a big heart and a giving spirit. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and Geraldine Scott; brother, Pastor William Scott Jr.; cousin and best friend, Lorman Sherrell Heilig, Sr.; mother of his children, Linda Hightower.

He leaves precious memories with his children, Robert Scott and Monique Hightower; grandchildren, Trenyce, Robert and Alex; nieces, Gerri Lynn (Elder Jeffery Sr.) Bowen, Ethelind Scott; aunts, Roberta Johnson, Pearl Heilig, Patricia Scott and Clarice Basdeo; sisters-in-law, Penny West, Vivian Scott, Mary McDonald; many great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including special friends, Latisha Brown, Dorothy Nelson and his friends from the Saginaw Malleable Iron Foundry.

The family would like to express special thanks to Ninth Street Community Church, Covenant Cooper CCU Team, Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
